Did you know the biggest killer of men in Australia between 16 and 44 is suicide?
In fact, each day 7 men in Australia take their own lives and another 82 men call an ambulance due to suicidal thoughts or attempts. We are sure you are all as shocked as us when we first heard these stats, and to be honest, it shocks us every time we have heard it since.
Vida Tennis is excited to announce their partnership with us - 100 Words Mate to Mate, as they look to help make a difference through awareness, connection, and education. Mental health has or will touch someone close to us all!
We invite all men from our community to our first 100 Word Mate to Mate BBQ on Thursday the 4th of March. In fact, we don’t just want to see you there, we want you to bring a mate and join us as we strive to create happier generations of men through real conversations, awareness, education and connection.
SPEAKER – SAM GROTH
We will be joined on the night by former Professional Tennis player, Channel 9 personality and co-host of The First Serve, Sam Groth.
Sam grew up in country New South Wales and made the move to Victoria at 16 to chase the professional sporting dream. He lived his passion with time at the AIS, traveling and living overseas for more than 12 years and playing a game he loved. Sam also represented the Veneto Club in pennant tennis.
He achieved the ranking of world number 53, played Davis Cup for Australia and represented his country at Olympic Games. Sam then faced the ‘what next?’ Retirement has given him the opportunity to reflect on his career to date.
SPEAKER – ANTHONY ROCCA
Many in the Vida community will know Anthony Rocca as a passionate and hard working person who is driven to help people develop and achieve their goals in football, fitness and in life.
Come along and hear about his journey from a 17 year old in Sydney to a stellar career at Collingwood. Through these years he had privileged to be surrounded by great leaders, each with different leadership styles (Mick Malthouse, Nathan Buckley, Scott Burns, Gavin Brown, Paul Kelly and Paul Roos to name a few).
