Luke Richards swims for recovery and 100words
Luke Richards is a recovered Alcoholic and an Ultra-marathon swimmer. Over 6 years ago his life was on a singular trajectory, he was caught in the cycle of addiction with no hope of recovery.
With the help of lots of people he did recover, and now counts his blessings for his amazing life.
He believes that we write addicts off as "lost causes" and he is swimming to show that everyone has the capacity to change and live amazing lives.

In the 2020-21 budget the government committed to spending 63.1 Million on suicide prevention programs. NONE of the 63 million is being directed towards any program specifically designed to reduce the rate of male suicide in our country.
In Victoria, we had a Royal Commission and none of the 65 recommendations addresses the fact that 75% of all suicides are male.
Now Luke is doing his ultra marathon swims to highlight the needs of people living with mental health challenges and in doing so is throwing his support behind 100words.
