In this episode of mate to mate at 8, Turts guest was founder of No Filter Friday, Darin Compt.
Darin Compt is a small business owner, founder of No Filter Friday, and busy single dad of 3 active kids. And as if he had any spare time, he also founded a special needs basketball training squad. While his life is full and rewarding, he has experienced a few low points in his life.
As a survivor of cancer - twice - Darin thought he had faced his toughest life challenge. But separation, and consequently going through divorce has proven to be an almost bigger challenge. Out of his comfort zone and struggling to transition into ‘single dad’ life, he sought out a single dads group. Little did he know this would become a pathway to the support work he now does with single dads, and the founding of No Filter Friday.
Darin has contact with up to 20 people a week via No Filter Friday. Most just want to chat via the platform anonymously, and Darin is able to guide them to avenues of professional help. Darin is acutely aware of the challenges of dealing with the court system during divorce, and just how difficult it can be for dads feeling like there is no support network during separation and divorce. The suicide of one of the single dads in the group was the catalyst for No Filter Friday.
