mate to mate at 8 | Andrew Millar

In this episode of mate to mate at 8, Turts’ catches up with great mate Andrew Millar.

Andrew has been in the corporate world for almost 25 years, but has never been able to settle into a role/career despite experiencing periods of career success. He has always felt like a fraud.

Being an Account Executive in the software industry was a great opportunity with the potential for significant rewards, but after 10+ years it still didn’t feel like he belonged. Even completing an MBA in his 40s was not the silver bullet – something needed to change.

Fast forward to 2019 when he met Craig Turton through the Balwyn Greythorn Jets footy club – they hit it off immediately through their mutual passion for Men’s health.

Since meeting Craig, they have often discussed mens’ health and supported one another which opened his eyes to 100words.

2020 came around and so did a significant knee operation in January exacerbating a historical back issue. It was then he knew it was going to be a tough year physically, but hadn't planned for COVID lockdowns and the added mental strain.

In time, Andrew became darker and angrier. But it reached a peak in July where the Sunday dread was weekly and getting worse. It was time to make some tough decisions and focus on mental health.

This self evaluation and awareness eventually led Andy to quit his job and set up Epic Step Consulting. Epic Step works with others - not only define themselves and what success means to them, but to help them actually achieve.
