Mate to Mate at 8 - Don't stop the conversation with your mates
These sure are crazy times.
Who would have thought a month ago that we would all be bunkered down in our homes, businesses all over Australia have closed – some permanently – and life as we knew it changed monumentally?
There’s not doubt that we are all adjusting to the current state of normal and learning to adapt, but for some this is so much more challenging than others.
Feelings of anxiety, stress, loneliness, helplessness can become quite overwhelming when life as we know it changes so drastically.
That’s why we at 100Words want to put the shout out to remind you to check in on your mates.
We’re encouraging you to text, call, Skype, Zoom or Houseparty with a mate every day – 8am or 8pm – doesn’t matter.
So how do you start the conversation?
Quite often when us blokes ask – ‘How’re you going mate?’, the standard response may be ‘great, you?’ But is it really? What about trying asking your mate to rate his day out of 10? This is a great conversation starter…..just ask North Melbourne Footballer and 100 Words advocate Mason Wood.
‘When you’re at the footy club or with mates, it’s easy to greet each other with the standard question/answer…..but is it really the truth? Asking a mate to rate their day out of 10 means that you can then ask more questions. Like, if it’s an 8 – why? What’s been great about it? What could have made it a 10? Or if it’s a 3 or 4…what’s going on in your day/week that’s giving you grief? Why only a 4?’
Here’s a message from Turts about our new Tuesday Talks….and why #matetomateat8

We are also launching a new online interview series - Tuesday Talks with Turts - where we will be catching up with sporting personalities, mental health and men’s health advocates and people who live with and manage depression and anxiety every day.
